Does Jane work with mental health diagnosis? Jane is trained and experienced with working with a range of mental heath diagnosis. She receives ongoing training and regular supervision to support her to provide the best care possible and also to recognise when she is not able to meet the client’s needs.

Can I receive my rebate back from medicare? Medicare rebates are available with either a Mental Health Care Plan or an Eating Disorder Treatment Plan that has available sessions and are within the correct dates of treatment. Jane will need a copy of the plan to be able to bill for medicare sessions. If you are coming into Jane’s counselling room, then the medicare rebate will be processed as part of the payment process. If you are receiving telehealth treatment then we are not able to process your medicare rebate. Once you have received your paid invoice then you will be able to be claim the rebate back either online or in person. How many sessions can I receive under a Mental Health Care Plan? If your GP deems it appropriate for you to receive a plan they are able to request an initial 6 sessions. Once these sessions have been completed Jane will write to your GP regarding treatment progress. The GP, if they feel it appropriate can then request that a futher 4 sessions be made available. Only 10 sessions per calendar year are allowed per person.

Can I see Jane with NDIS funding? Yes Jane can provide NDIS services through a managed plan or self managed plan.

How do I book an initial appointment? Please complete an enquiry or contact Bardon Counselling Centre. Jane will contact you to determine that she is the best person to assist you. Once this has occurred you will be given a link to book sessions online. If you prefer you can call reception, and they can assist you to book in.

How do I book ongoing appointments? You are able to book in sessions online here or call reception.

I am not sure that I will know what to talk about in therapy? It can be hard to articulate what we are struggling with and particularly what we need. Jane is an experienced counsellor who is able to help you express and better understand what is happening for you. This concern about not knowing what to talk about can occur at the beginning and at times throughout the whole therapy journey.

I am not sure how much or what to share in therapy? Jane encourages you to only share what feels safe in that moment. If you omit some details or avoid certain topics then she knows that there are very good reasons for this. Jane will never force you to talk about something that doesn’t feel safe.

What happens if I don’t think Jane is a good fit for me? Jane encourages you to provide feedback if how she is working does not feel right. But no one therapist will be the correct fit for everyone. If she is not a good fit for you then she can discuss alternatives with you. Jane is aware of the importance of therapist/client fit and feels strongly that your resources of time and money are too valuable to waste with the wrong therapist.

What happens if I want to cancel my appointment? If you want to cancel an appointment then just contact Jane directly or the reception to do so. However, there are cancellation fees if there is less than 48 hours’ notice.

Is Jane able to work with neuro divergent clients? Yes, Jane has completed training in this area and many of her clients are neuro divergent. Jane works from a trauma informed perspective that means that she values diversity. All of her sessions are client led and are tailored to the individual client. This way of working provides is an effective and safe way of working for all clients.
